The show
It started with early-morning walks. Sean and I (I'm Kris, hi) were out getting our steps in before the sun came up, talking about whatever was on our minds (AI, ethics, relationships, whatever weird thing we passed on the sidewalk), and at some point it hit us that other people might want to hear it. Or, more likely, might not. We hit record anyway.
The name isn't a joke. We're optimistic people, we're literally walking, and we know our take on pretty much everything is gonna be... well, pedestrian. That's kinda the point. Anybody can ask whether a piece of technology is serving them or selling them. We just happen to do it out loud, at six in the morning, a couple miles at a time.
The show is a production of USA Web School, the little 501(c)(3) I run here in Charlotte (free STEM education, and nobody harvests the kid).

Kris Tyte
Teacher, software guy, veteran
I teach middle grades science and math at East Voyager Academy here in Charlotte, and I run USA Web School, a little nonprofit where I build free learning tools that don't spy on kids. Before the classroom it was about thirty years of writing software for other people (clinical systems at Atrium Health, 3D platforms at Life3D, production support for Bank of America), which is a long way of saying I've seen how the sausage gets made.
Before any of that I was a paratrooper and combat medic with the 82nd Airborne, with time in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm also a humanist celebrant with Humanism Works. The question I keep circling back to, on the show and off it, is whether the tools we build are serving people or selling them. Most days I'm hopeful. Some days I'm working on it...
Sean Snodgrass
Network wrangler, firewall tamer
Sean's a veteran IT pro. By day he wrangles networks and tames firewalls for a big enterprise here in Charlotte, so he's watched more than his share of shiny new technology meet the real world. By morning he's out walking with me, microphone on.
He's got a real knack for taking deep tech and turning it into a conversation you'd actually want to have, which is harder than it sounds. We've been friends a long time, and he's a UNC Charlotte guy like me. If an episode wanders somewhere unexpected, it's a coin flip which one of us started it.

How we make it
The conversations are real. It's two people, unscripted, usually outside and usually before sunrise. What you hear is us.
The art is a different story. Episode covers, chapter illustrations, and the short video clips are made with AI tools like Midjourney and Runway, and the Art galleries on the episode pages show the prompts behind the images. We talk a lot on this show about being honest with people about AI, so it'd be pretty hypocritical to hide it.
